The Fosters & Ferals
Challenge

Hi! I’m Jodie,

And as far back as I can remember, I always had a great love of animals – all animals big and small. My goal in life was to volunteer or work at some type of sanctuary in my retirement.

Still a goal, yet I thought why not do something now?

I didn’t want to start my own rescue group because there are so many of them in my area, several of which I volunteer with already. I started thinking how could I help the animal groups that are already out there and that’s when I came up with the idea of the “Fosters & Ferals Challenge”.

The Challenge

In 2021, I pledged to make a donation every single day of the year ($25 or something from their wish list - food, litter, etc.) and to spread the word about that day’s animal organization.

As well as donating, I posted about each animal organization on my Instagram, so even if people were unable to donate, they could read about the cause of the day and (hopefully!) spread the word.

Guess what? I did it!!

Although larger well-known organizations were featured, I wanted to focus mainly on smaller groups or individuals who are out there doing what they can to make a difference in the lives of animals. For instance, your neighbor who feeds community cats or your friend who fosters dogs - anyone out there doing what they can to help animals.

It was an incredible challenge! I now have a list of 365 different (and wonderful) animal related organizations. Find out more about these wonderful causes here: Donation Directory.

Going forward, I’m still doing all I can to help animals by volunteering, donating, and raising awareness. I recently joined the Animal Communication Collective™ to further help animals (and their humans) all across the globe.

Do you want to help animals?

All of the animal rescue groups I donated to are in this together – we are all trying to save as many animals as possible.  In some cases, finding them their forever homes and in others, returning them to the wild where they rightfully belong.

The key to remember is small donations add up.  My motto is “Small donations, BIG hearts”.
